Visiting the Back to the Future Part 3 movie set from 1885
Here is our visit to the set following the completion of principal photography. Sadly, these amazing sets can no longer be found as they were destroyed in a fire in 1996. Living in the area at the time, we were all very aware of the Back to the Future 3 production. As soon as the film wrapped, we were looking to get access and check things out. Eventually we did - and were fortunate to have one of the productions' extras along for the tour to help us out. This video was taken before we had seen the completed film. The clock tower was lost to wind damage, but virtually everything else, including the saloon, iconic train depot, bank, butcher shop, jail, undertaker, Joe Statler's horse stables, and Doc Brown's workshop, remained for our visit. This film set was located on Red Hills Ranch near the town of Sonora, California.
Before succumbing to the ravages of time, the Hill Valley 1885 film set in historic Jamestown, California, was open to the public for a special event on June 9, 1990.
