Back to the Future mini documentary series coming to Discovery Channel
Bombshell! That’s right, Discovery Channel is in production on a 2021 release of a 4 part mini documentary series “Expedition Back to the Future” that revolves around Back to the Future, but is not a Universal Studios project. We’re excited to announce that 2 of our client Time Machines are being used for the filming! Just last night, Christopher Lloyd was photographed at the Puente Hill’s Mall (Where they originally filmed Back to the Future) dressed up as Doc Brown, with the Delorean Time Machine. Production ran until 4am and had a few Back to the Future fans outside the set taking pictures and videos (Gionny Larriva). More filming with the ENTIRE cast scheduled for Late October in New York City. They’ve already been filming since September, with some fun stuff already filmed such as riding with Christopher Lloyd in the screen used yellow packard, trip to Delorean Motor Company with Doc, Leah Thompson and Christopher Lloyd together and much more filming coming up! Expect more cast members as well. Josh Gates, best known for hosting “Expedition Unknown” on Discovery will be hosting this special as well. I personally have a friend who is working on the production and he told me they are anticipating a January/February release on Discovery Channel. Hopefully we’ll have more information as it leaks in the coming weeks/months, but with Back to the Future day next week, I’d expect an announcement soon! GREAT SCOTT!!
2/26/21 Update: I’ve been in contact with several employees at Discovery and the final cut is finishing up now with plans to air March 15th on Discovery Plus. 2 weeks later they will air on Discovery. Follow us on social media for more updates.
